It's a high quality rice, cultivated in the countries between the North of India and Pakistan, close to Himalaya.
In Hindi "basmati" means "rich in fragrance". It is an aromatic rice, with a long and narrow grain which tastes like hazelnut, particularly in its wholegrain version.
