'I know many of you don’t need to be told this, but if you see a teaspoon, tablespoon or fractions thereof stipulated in a recipe, it is actually a precise measurement that’s being called for. A tablespoon in a recipe, for example, has a 15ml capacity and a teaspoon a 5ml capacity; it’s impossible to give across-the-board weight equivalents as measuring spoons (and measuring cups) are to measure volume not weight. Now, there’s not a terrible amount of error you can make with a teaspoon, but I always worry that people might just use a serving spoon when a tablespoon is indicated, and that would throw everything off hideously!
